Google launches Bard the generative AI tool
It still has a way to go before it's even as good as Bing
Earlier today, I received access to Google’s Bard. I was excited to give it a try and see how it stacked up against ChatGPT and Bing’s AI chat.

First, here is how Bard described itself when I prompted it to write its own launch email:

Google Bard is a new language model from Google AI that is designed to be more creative and informative than previous models. Bard can generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way.
Bard is still under development, but it has already learned to perform many kinds of tasks, including:
Generating different creative text formats of text content, like poems, code, scripts, musical pieces, email, letters, etc. I will try my best to fulfill all your requirements.
Answering your questions in a comprehensive and informative way, even if they are open ended, challenging, or strange. I will use my knowledge to answer your questions in a way that is both informative and engaging.
Translating languages. I can translate text from one language to another, even if the two languages are very different.
Bard is powered by Google's state-of-the-art language model LaMDA, which is trained on a massive dataset of text and code. This allows Bard to generate text that is not only grammatically correct but also creative and informative.
Bard is still under development, but it has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with computers. With Bard, we can have conversations with computers that are more natural and engaging than ever before. We can also use Bard to generate text that is more creative and informative than anything that has come before it.
I am excited to see what the future holds for Bard and how it will change the way we interact with computers.
How to Use Google Bard
Google Bard is a powerful tool that can be used for a variety of tasks. Here are a few tips on how to use it:
Ask questions. Bard is a great way to get information from the web. Simply ask it a question and it will do its best to answer it.
Generate text. Bard can generate text for a variety of purposes, such as writing creative content, translating languages, or generating email.
Get creative. Bard is a great tool for brainstorming ideas and coming up with new creative content.
Have fun. Bard is a powerful tool, but it's also a lot of fun to use. Experiment with different prompts and see what Bard can do.
Early thoughts
Here are some early conclusions of what I discovered when I tested it with images.
There are no citations
A prominent CTA on all results encourages users to search on Google
Answers are not always accurate
Google Assistant is attached somehow
There are options to change drafts
Results seem to change on multiple queries of the same topics
Bard will write code but it’s not nearly as good as Bing at displaying that code.
Bard will create commercials but it’s not very creative when I gave it different prompts the results were the same
When it spell and grammar checks content it does not make it obvious what it fixed.
It is well designed and uses familiar edit icons and prompts
Overall despite its flaws, I am excited to find more uses for it and I think it will cut out significant amounts of informational searches that typically take many different attempts to find the right result today.
